My Goals: Building My Ideal Self
From self-care to strength, here’s how I’m creating my ideal self
I introduced myself, and now I want to share my goals—because I’m on my own journey too. If you’re putting in the work for YOU, it’s only fair that I tell you what I’m doing for ME.
1. Treating My Body with Kindness
My first goal is to treat my body with more kindness. That means accepting the things I can’t change and caring for my needs regularly. I struggle with negative self-talk and body dysmorphia, and as an autistic individual, I also deal with alexithymia—difficulty recognizing my body’s signals like hunger, thirst, or stress.
To overcome this, I need a plan that ensures my basic needs are met and encourages time to rest and recharge in ways that work for ME. I believe this will help me engage with family, friends, and my career with more energy and momentum.
2. Elevating My Fitness Journey
I’m active through my part-time job and home life (two kids and housework definitely count as fitness—if you break a sweat, it counts!). But going to the gym or being outdoors helps me regulate my emotions and gives me time for myself.
My specific fitness goals include:
- Building strength and endurance to reduce fatigue and enjoy more fun with my kids
- Reducing strain on my joints and easing old sports injuries
- Managing chronic health issues through movement
- Improving range of motion so I can do things I love—like painting my own toenails (yes, the esthetician in me notices these things!)
I’m also dealing with plantar fasciitis and stiffness, so flexibility and mobility are top priorities.
3. Eating at Home More Often
This is a big one for me. I eat a lot of takeout—not because I love it, but because I struggle with meal decisions and recognizing hunger cues. Stress around food leads me to default to takeout, which impacts my health and finances.
My plan?
- Make sure foods I enjoy are easily available
- Reduce stress around meal planning
- Build routines that work for my autistic brain and help me feel in control
4. Building This Community and Career
Finally, I want to grow this space and my career so I can spend the rest of my life helping people create their ideal selves—inside and out. This isn’t just about me; it’s about building a supportive, inclusive community where everyone feels empowered to define health and beauty on their own terms.
Along the way, I’ll be sharing the tips and tricks that work for me, as well as the real journey—the good days and the tough ones. This isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress, and I want to be honest about the struggles and wins so we can learn and grow together.
